WorldSkills UK SFX Makeup for Film and TV National Final 2026

WorldSkills UK SFX Makeup for Film and TV National Final 2026 is the UK's top competition for young special effects makeup artists. It takes place at Cardiff and Vale College in Cardiff, Wales, as part of the WorldSkills UK National Finals, where learners from colleges and training providers across the country compete in front of industry judges.

Learners studying a Level 3 media makeup and hair course reach the final after an entry stage and regional qualifiers. In the final they show five core skills: bald cap application, prosthetic application, makeup to a brief, hair and wig styling, and a mood board. These are the skills that film, TV and theatre makeup teams look for in new talent.

Competing is a strong step for a career in film and TV makeup. Finalists get to work to a professional standard, be judged by industry experts and meet employers, tutors and other rising makeup artists from across the UK.
