Pre-care Advice
- Arrive with clean, product-free nails where possible.
- Avoid cutting your cuticles beforehand.
- If you already have gel or polish on, we will safely remove it for you at your appointment.
After-care Advice
- Your nails are ready to go straight away — no drying time.
- Avoid picking or peeling the gel.
- Wear gloves for cleaning and gardening, and apply cuticle oil daily.
- Book a professional soak-off rather than peeling, to protect your natural nails.

Let us know about any nail or skin conditions, allergies (including to gel products), or infection around the nail, as these may affect treatment. Gel is not applied over damaged or infected nails.
Side Effects & Risks
Gel polish is very safe when applied and removed correctly. Peeling gel off can weaken the natural nail, so we always recommend a professional soak-off. Rarely, some people are sensitive to gel products — please tell us if you have reacted before.

Can gel polish extend my nail length?
No. Due to its flexibility, gel polish cannot be used to extend nail length. For length, you will need to book a new acrylic or builder gel set.
What is the difference between gel polish and Shellac?
Gel polish and Shellac are essentially the same thing. Shellac is simply a brand of gel polish.
