About Me

 

Sue Davies is a nail & beauty industry veteran and owned an award-winning in Bexley, Kent until its sale in 2011. She writes for several industry publications, is a recognised industry advocate and has new ventures which aim to enhance a variety of soft skills within the sector.

She joined the nail and beauty industry in 2002, following a successful career as a PA and Administration Manager in the private and public sector. Initially working on a freelance basis, in 2005 she secured a salon position with an industry leader which led to a management role in the salon and a collaboration in key areas of the nail industry. During this time, she took on roles with the Association of Nail Technicians (ANT); Pro Beauty Nail Seminar Manager; and Assistant Nail Competition Director and Judge. Sue went on to work with Beauty Professional Ireland direct the All Ireland VTCT Nail Championships. She has also been a judge with Nail Design Competitions in Slovenia. 

In 2021 Sue returned to the competition arena as Director for the Professional Beauty Nail Competitions.
Sue has acts as judge for the Scratch Stars and Professional Beauty national award schemes.

She was the proprietor of her own successful salon, Gorgeous Nail & Beauty Emporium, where she won a raft of industry awards including Scratch Stars Nail Salon of the Year and contribution to industry, business & customer care awards in both local and national awards. In 2017, Sue was awarded her highest accolade of the Services to Industry Award in the Scratch Stars Awards, the highest award scheme within the nail industry recognising her continuing advocacy and strive for improved standards within the industry. 

In 2020, Sue was invited to become Deputy Chair and Director of Information of a new not-for-profit organisation, The Federation of Nail Professionals and was intrinsic its initial set up and launch. 

As an educator Sue has worked both as an independent nail & beauty training provider and for several national brands and is also a qualified Assessor. She has also delivered seminars on career opportunities and salon ownership within the industry at national trade shows.

Continuing to work towards higher standards and improving education is part of her passion within the nail and wider beauty industry and launched the Inspiring Salon Professionals podcast, covering topics from entry level qualifications to opening your own salon and everything in between. Sue is currently developing online courses on personal, professional, and business development.
