Who It's For

Ideal for anyone experiencing teeth grinding or clenching (bruxism), jaw tension, tension headaches or facial muscle fatigue, or who has been advised they have an overactive jaw muscle. Suitability and any need for splint therapy are assessed at consultation.

Expected Results

Reduced clenching and grinding, relief from jaw tension and associated headaches, and protection of the teeth from further wear. Results typically develop over 1–2 weeks and last approximately 3–4 months, with a slimming, softening effect on a strong jawline for some clients.

Pre-care Advice

Avoid alcohol for 24 hours beforehand and, where medically appropriate, blood-thinning medicines and supplements to reduce bruising. Bring details of your dental and medical history, and mention any existing jaw or bite concerns at consultation.

After-care Advice

Stay upright for 4 hours and avoid rubbing or massaging the treated area. Avoid strenuous exercise, alcohol, saunas and facials for 24 hours. Follow the aftercare Dr Helen provides, and attend any recommended review to assess your response.

Downtime & Recovery

Minimal downtime — most clients return to normal activities immediately, following simple aftercare for the first 24 hours.

Contraindications

Please Read Carefully Before Booking This Treatment.

Not suitable during pregnancy or breastfeeding, or for those with certain neuromuscular conditions, active infection at the treatment site or a known allergy to botulinum toxin. Full medical and dental history is reviewed at consultation.

Side Effects & Risks

Temporary tenderness, minor bruising or a feeling of jaw-muscle fatigue when chewing can occur in the first days and settle as the muscle adjusts. Less commonly, mild asymmetry may occur; this is discussed at consultation.
